What we do

There are certain notions and misconceptions (or should we say many misconceptions) among people as to what an Interior Designer does or why must somebody hire an Interior Designer. Some feel Interior Design is all about playing with fabrics and furnishings or maybe even think that’s what it is all about. Some even think that design is what they see on TV or online shows. To be honest, there’s much more to it and a lot more happening behind the scenes.

A lot of the aspects I mentioned above pertain to what we call, “the scope of work”. These vary from one project to another. In this post, I will try and explain the different types of projects we take up; but I do promise to write about “the scope of work” on a separate post.

Now, without any further ado, let me take you through the different types of projects we undertake.

Residential Interior Designing

There are different types of houses in India, ranging from Bungalows, Apartments, Penthouses, Studio flats, Villa’s, Farmhouses etc. These different houses demand different looks and feels. Hence, the interiors in each of these spaces would be relatively different from each other.

Our primary focus when it comes to residential projects is to make the space “Liveable”. Our job here pertains to balancing aesthetics and functionality. With our work, we aim at making these spaces comfortable, usable and of course, really appealing to the eyes. We try and bring in a balance of colours, lighting, furnitures, appliances, temperature and general layout with the clients’ needs and tasks. You may even need different themes for different rooms.

With our clients. we sit down with them, understand their needs and give suggestions and ideas based on our expertise and knowledge. We will help in planning the space, research on styles and themes, facilitate procurement, communicate with the stakeholders of the project, construction management and execution of the said design.

With every residential project, our aim is to turn every house to a home.

Commercial Interior designing

The general definition of Commercial Interior Design refers to interior design of commercial spaces.  Commercial spaces are offices, retail stores, restaurants, lobbies and other public spaces.

Every commercial space has its own goal; hence, the design has to be such that it serves the actual purpose of the space. To explain this better, we can use a themed restaurant as an example. A restaurant specializing in Italian food could use different aspects of Italy and its culture as parts of its design. When it comes to the interiors of a commercial office, the design must appeal to its employees and it must be able to keep them motivated and productive. We try to include factors that help align the employees with the vision and mission of the organization.

In a commercial space, we aim at ensuring optimal space distribution while balancing functionality and beauty.

Home Styling

Home styling is a common concept in the west. However, home styling is slowly and strongly make its way into urban Indian homes. As home styling professionals, we aim to cosmetically improve the interiors of a space, without performing in depth or structural renovations. These changes are usually limited to altering the furniture, lighting, floor plan improvements and other factors in the specific space.

In our homes styling projects, we’ll help you tweak and rearrange and even utilize your existing furnishings, accessories to give your room / home a pleasant change. We can also offer affordable yet newer alternatives to give you a fresh look. The major factors we’d consider while styling a space would be soft furnishing, colours, floor plans, room layouts texture selections, furniture selections and sourcing, lighting and most importantly the ongoing trends.

Furniture Designing

After reading about residential and commercial interior design, this one could come in as a no-brainer. Furniture design has been an ancient art-form. Every  antique furniture piece would have intricate design patterns and artistry details pertaining to its creator.

In India, customized furniture was considered to be an acquired taste. Today, we try and create unique furniture pieces for everyone who appreciates this ancient art and offer furniture pieces in the form of beds, sofa’s, tables and many others for residences, offices and more.

While designing furniture pieces, we prefer having them as unique as possible, while keeping customer preferences, sustainability, ergonomics and practicality in mind. We love working on pieces with varied kinds of materials like wood, metal, stone, different kinds of fabric, leather etc.
